Re: 1934 Ford Pickup Streetrod - Mirka Abralon Wetsand, Cut & Buff
Awesome job guys! The orange peel looked really bad and the after pics looked fantastic! Cool truck!

Yeah we almost eliminated about 90% of it.
I don't know about other guys but when I'm responsible for any wetsanding project I like to error on the side of caution and have the final results be called a success rather than me calling the owner and telling him there's been a mistake.
Like my good friend Mike Pennington always use to tell me when I started any project at Meguiar's,
"Here's your chance to be the hero or the zero"
I love a challenge but I also like to finish on the winning side!

Holy cow, that peel was insane!
Is Autogeek going to be selling those Mirka Abralon products, Mike? I don't see them in the store.

It' done. That is the side edges of the running boards have already been repainted and the truck is out of the shop.
What Tim's talking about is when the truck arrived the vertical lip of the running boards had hardly any paint on them, you could see the primer coat showing. Not sure the exact reason but judging the overall lack of quality for the entire paint job it was probably just a case of the painter not getting down low to the ground to spray paint onto the 2" side of the running boards.
Mike received the leftover paint from the paint job when he bought this truck from the builder and had a local shop fix the issue.l
Mike says the truck now looks great and wanted me to tell all the guys that did the sanding and buffing thank you!
Mike also picked up the tab on the pizza.
I know a number of the guys for this project had never hand sanded or machine sanded before and I think a few are still fairly new to using a rotary buffer so I too would like to say thank you for taking on the challenge.
In the car detailing world, knowing how to wetsand and use a rotary buffer are what I would consider advanced skills so good work guys!

It was another great night at Autogeek.
Mirka Abralon sanding disks are nice, last long time and leveled out fast.
See you next time.

I think I would be scared to sand using an 8" sanding disc!
Well maybe not on a boat...
Ha Ha. Misunderstood my question. I wasn't asking if it was an 8" disc. Was asking if it was the 8A Abralon disc. They have an 8A and a 9S foam sanding disc. I have used the 8A discs to remove light OP, but I wouldn't think they would have been able to level heavy OP like on the truck you did. Again, great job.
