I purposefully parked the truck in the same place for the before and after pictures. Next I took the pictures around the same time each of the days, used the same camera, (trusty, dusty Canon Rebel t1i), on the same setting, (normally no flash setting) and then take a series of pictures from the same general area. Basically put as many controls into place as I figured would be good enough, (I'm not going to turn this into Rocket Science).
That's a simple way of documenting before and after using the sun. Of course, you need the sun for it to work...
Comment about the paint...
Somewhere in the sign-up thread I mentioned the owner was never happy with the paint job, alway thought there was something about the look that wasn't right. The problem was the way the paint was buffed out. Another part of the problem was some kind of chaotic stain on the paint, (before pictures were taken after the truck was aggressively washed).
So the reason the paint didn't look right was because of all the swirls, holograms and staining as well as overspray.
"It's the guy that does the wetsanding, cutting and buffing that,
makes or breaks the final, end-results"
We measured the paint before starting and it measured out in the 3-6 range, some places in the sub-3 mils level.
To me, for a custom paint job that still has orange peel, I'd say it measures out pretty thin. So I didn't want to get too aggressive by wetsanding this first time so we just stuck with polishing with Pinnacle polishes and everyone was free to use whatever tool they wanted.
Started with machine decontamination using Nanoskin Autoscrub pads on Meguiar's, Porter Cable, Griot's DA Polishers and the Flex 3401. Did the two-step polishing processes using cutting pads and polishing pads, then machine waxed with Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax.
I think everyone would agree that whatever the brand of clear that was used actually buffed-up to a clear, deep, wet-look.
Sure gets a lot of thumbs-up and comments wherever I park it...
It's a blast to drive...

This is SO true, sometimes to the point that the end result simply cannot be visualized. AMAZING transformation, great work guys! I'm going to head over there next time I have a Thursday night off
