Classroom is all set-up and ready to go, demo car is in horrific condition perfect for our class, donuts are fresh and coffee is hot!

    Hot Coffee and Fresh Donuts!

If you look closely you can see straight line scratches running from front to back, there are actually very few circular swirls and mostly straight scratches.

This is a negative of a cropped out section of the paint surrounding the reflection of the overhead florescent light near the windshield.

    Outside Sun Shots

Scratches at the front of the hood....

    Scratches at rear of hood...

Again, most of the scratches are running in straight lines...

This is a full size, cropped out section taken from just above my finger in the above picture...

Here's a Negative of the same picture...

Water Spots all over paint and glass...

    Water spots on front fender...

    Water Spots on Glass...

    Water Spots on B-Pillar

Water Spots and Scratches on Trunk Lid...

Close-up cropped out of the above picture at full resolution...

This will be a great learning experience for working on new cars with defects in Factory Paint and of course BLACK is the best teaching and training color.

That looks like the perfect car for a class. It's got everything you need. It should show a great amount of improvment as the class goes along.

I can see Mike at the car rental place, standing there pointing saying "That's the one, right over there, I want that one, right there, IT'S PERFECT!!!!"

Looking forward to the finished results.

Interesting, using 'negative' to accent the defects. How'd you come up with that idea/method?

It's lunch break, had to make some phone calls before the day is over and process some e-mails so while the guys are eating lunch I thought I would pop in on this thread...

That is pretty much exactly what happened... we're watching from behind a tree?

Just an effect I've been using for years when it serves a purpose. There's an option for creating a negative in this handy little program I use everyday.

Handiest little picture viewer tool I've been using for years now...

Heck Robert, you're qualified to teach these classes while I take the weekend off!

Today's a wrap and we start fresh tomorrow with Wetsanding, Rotary Buffers, Microfiber DA Correction System, Coatings and Show Car Machine Polishing.

Time to clean up and head to the Marriott Lounge for "Meet & Greet" social time.

Wow! That looked like great fun! Wish I could have been there.........oh I was there, OK. In all seriousness, Mike put on a terrific and "eye opening" class. There were so many "Aha" moments I lost count! I would recommend this class not only to people with detailing businesses but for "enthusiasts" like myself who can be armed with the knowledge and "hands on" training to tackle the most daunting detail jobs.

Thank you Mike and Nick for a fantastic weekend! I will be back......don't know if you wanted to hear that!

    Cheers,

    Tim

I have to thank Nick and Ray for the much needed information and help that they gave. Don't THINK about attending this class. Like NIKE says, JUST DO IT!!!!

Thanks for the kind words Tim, it was a pleasure meeting you and having you in our detailing boot camp class over the weekend. Keep me posted as to what you find out about the paint on your Porsche and if all the signs are good we could have you and your Porsche back for a wetsand, cut and buff project.
