I like a lot of your comments as they are well executed and thought out and definitely analytical in nature. I think you missed the mark here, this gentleman is discussing something he likes in the off topic section, if you do not like cologne then why belittle someone over something they might enjoy as a hobby?

Frag means something else to us old guys than it does to you whipper-snappers, here's a hint:

agreed, aventus is loud but also lasts a good while. not as versatile as some others but i wouldn't wear it all the time especially considering the price. nautica voyage is such a gem (high praise in the fragrance community) and for under $20 for 100ml bottle is a steal and it's very un offensive and can be worn in just about any setting...
    i am the jump starter.

I never got beyond scented body washes. I guess it's for the best because I tend to be a bit sensitive to perfumes.

    Off-topic, but a funny story:

Went out on a blind date. The gal was cute. One problem - she wore the same perfume as my mother. I totally recognized it: Poison.

I was distracted the whole time. When she tried to feed me ice cream, all I could think of was 'you smell like my mother...' So distracting & completely ruined the experience.

The Canoe and 9 Flags date back to the mid 60s. I wore Canoe to my 50 year class reunion, I think almost everyone recognized it.
