How to Fix RaceDeck Free Flow Slippery Tiles
So after slipping on my new shop floor for nearly a week, nearly hurting myself several times, and getting the runaround from SnapLock I decided to take the slick plastic floor issue into my own hands. I tried APC at full strength and even steaming the tiles to remove the mold release film. I finally decided the only way to fix the issue would be to remove the smoothness and add some texture. Using 100 grit sandpaper I scuffed the tiles. After doing this I was able to walk around without slipping, even while wet. Not sure if this is worth a sticky somewhere on the forum here, that's up to the moderators. (I would be willing to do a more detailed write up if needed)
And here's the video (entertainment included)

Shop looks good. Crazy how slippery it got from just being wet. Nice that you were able to rectify it by just sanding it.

•To me...it seems like now,
since they've been sanded, it's:
-Going to make it easier for the tiles to get dirty.
-Going to make it harder to get the tiles cleaned.
Regardless:
Nice looking tiling job!
Makes the garage POP!!

Like I said, the white tiles will probably show more dirt and be harder to clean. But that's the difference between looking 100x better than the old floor or 99x better.
I'll take the trade off of safety over looks, the floor is going to be dirty 99% of the time anyways.
Thanks, I'm really happy with how it came out as well.

Are you planning on washing on the floor a lot? Do you think the tiles will clog up easily underneath?

Yeah, that's what I thought. But when I called Snaplock they told me they had never heard of anyone slipping on their tiles.

My wash bay is outside so no, I wont be washing on these tiles. But I do pull wet vehicles inside nearly every day and also walk inside with wet shoes and it obviously was an issue before. From what I've been told it's very easy to vacuum through the ribs in the tiles.
