It's just a crime that the American Pit Bull Terrier is the face of the "evil dog" in this country. They are highly intelligent (to a fault), they love kids, and are among the most trainable dogs on the planet.
If you teach it, they will do it. 1000% every time.
But it doesn't help that a certain type of person(s) train them to be something they are not and use them as fighting dogs.
For you see, if they are trained to fight, they will do that 1000% as well. All Terriers were bred by man to be tenacious in any task asked of them. And they excel at it.
One should never trust a bear. But if one were to train one into a pet, one should recognize the fact that they might be great compainions for years. But there might come a day that winnie the pooh snaps into natural instinct. If that unfortunate day were to ever come...said person would have no one to blame but thyself, for they knew and assumed the risks from begining.

Sad to see it but there’s a story out on how a couple of pit bulls. Supposed family pets that were part of the family attacked and killed 2 little kid while there mom was attacked trying to save them.
What is sad is this may not be a symptom of the breed but of the individual animals themselves. Just like some humans sometimes there just not wired right.

Re: Show us your pet.
My brother has always been nervous around dogs, since he was little. He told me Buster, the bigger, at 60lb, of my two dogs makes him nervous sometimes. I laughed and told him it's Ziva he should keep an eye on. I told him Buster is a lot more laid back and easy going, I've had little kids he doesn't know come up and hug him and crawl under his belly, even grab his tail, he isn't bothered by it at all. Ziva is only 44lb, but can be nervous in some situations, she likes her personal space, she approaches strangers on her terms. But she's also the one more likely to be sitting next to me on the couch in the garage, kicking me because she wants more space.
You can't always judge a dog by its size or look. Watch the eyes and body language.

This is one of them. He has a sister that’s a little smaller and [I]sort of[I] the opposite colors that he is. She’s more white than black where he’s more black than white

Re: Show us your pet.
Well, this old girl went to that big dog park in the sky today at 1:55pm.
My wife works for our local animal hospital, and one of the vets and a tech came to our house for the procedure.
She was on her favorite couch with her favorite blanket while my wife held her head, and she went very, very peacefully.
We are very sad today, but we also knew it was time. She couldn’t walk very much at all any longer, and trying to do so was painful.
RIP, Opal. 2007-2022.

Re: Show us your pet.
Sorry to hear about Opal. Sounds like that was the humane, but very tough, thing to do.

Re: Show us your pet.
So sorry to hear. They’re family and it’s always so tough when we lose them.
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.
