What would you charge, pros and backyard guys?
So I'm talking with my wife about doing an exterior detail on a worn black 99' WS6 for her bros best friend. I did the quarter panel to show him what I could do for him and his happy with the results. Here's what I was planning on doing:
-rinseless wash
-paint decontamination
-polish or compound the paint w/ GG6
-hand apply DG #501
-hand apply Collinite #915
-FREE enhanced carwash down the road
Now I said I'd charge $300 and my wife said that was too much and I should charge $200. This car needs paint correction pretty bad...AND ITS BLACK. I didn't include tire and wheel restoration because they are off the car as well as the trans being out of it, which is fine by me.
What's your take on this guys/gals?

Don't be so greedy, $299.95.
$300 is not so bad, I charged a lady with a black Honda Accord $200 for a 3-step (clay, polish, wax) and light interior work (vacuum, spot cleaning). I didn't do anything by hand, that would have cost more ... 'cause it's more work.

I don't think you're out of line at all. $300 is $20 / hour for 15 hours. Adjust either the numerator or denominator as you see fit, but it still seems very reasonable to me.
That of course doesn't take into consideration the "friend factor".
Looking forward to the pics.

Skip the 501. Waste of time.

•Although DG#501 is a "Cleaner(polish)-Sealant"...
-The Compounding & Polishing steps are also going to be paint cleaning processes.
•After decon/compounding/polishing...
the paint will be clean.
-There's really no need for any further paint cleaning
before applying the Collinite #915.
Time & effort saved...money ahead.

I would say your prices arent bad. I guess it depends on the guys reaction. Start him at $275ish and see what he thinks.

Roger,
That's a $400.00 in my book, so $300.00 on your end is very acceptable. The Trans Am is a BIG car..seems small, but the hood is gonna take a while especially. Plus you are including a free wash down the line..
Because it's family i'd bump it to $250. Not a dime less. After all, you are not a Delta Sonic..

I would do an IPA wipedown before sealing the paint.

Hard to say without seeing it but the price seems in line to me. I agree the #501 can be skipped, it serves no purpose. The free wash is a nice gesture but can also be dropped.
