    Exclamation Check thoes dryer vents!

    OMG!

Cleaned the inside one inside the dryer lint trap. (I have the "lint lizard") Today i figured i would venture outside and down the basement to check the outside vent and tubing. It was really bad. Took off the vent hose (its a long one) about 8' to 9' from the dryer to the outside vent. About 90% clogged! Cleaned it all out and put it back together. Ran the dryer and went to check the exhaust. 100% BETTER. Dryer even sounds better. So to avoid a fire or worse, Check them!

Does that lint lizard really work? I've seen it at Walgreens, but was hesitant on trying it.

It does a decent job inside the dryer lint trap compartment. Hook it up to a shop vac and go.

Clean them now or call me later. In nearly 30 years of being in the fire service, we have been to many fires because of this problem. Sometimes we caught it quick and minimized damage. Other times...

Made a few of those myself. Most are self limiting to the dryer. I clean the lint trap after every use and the vent outside once a month. Electricity costs enough...I want my dryer working efficiently. Don't forget your furnace filter.

Thanx for the reminder! It is so easy to forget or by-pass things like that.

I'll just add, have you all changed out the smoke alarm batteries lately?

Just blew mine out this weekend. I need to get access to my roof where the vent comes out to check it out there as well.
