    Keeping cat off car hood

I park in an underground garage in an apartment complex. It's gated, but the gate itself is a bunch of bars. There's a cat that has been sleeping in the garage for over a year. There are over thirty other cars in the garage, yet I keep finding the damn cat on my car hood. Every single morning (and even in the afternoons) when I go to drive out, I have to spray and wipe the hood of the cat stains. I neglected to do this last year, and the cat already left permanent etching onto the clear coat. Any suggestions to get this critter off my car? It must enjoy the smooth, clean, waxed surface. But it is unacceptable for it to leave sweat smears on my car.

trap it and take it to the pound. I bet your local shelter or animal control will have a trap they will loan you for free.

How can your board allow over 30 cats in the parking garage?

car cover.. yeah I have a neighbor that had nothing else to do so he would call animal control daily on cats. He also had traps loaned to him by anuimal control.. they got sick of it and quit letting him use them.

Enclosed garage or cover is the only way.

If it's not a cat (there are hundreds of strays BTW) it will be a bird, mouse, rat, squirrel, raccoon, etc. that could cause harm to your car.

^^^30 other cars, LOL! Yes, I agree with Coopers. Trap it and take it to the local animal shelter. Feral cats are bad for the environment as well as the surface of your car!

Any recourse with Property Mngmt? Allowing them to keep breeding and growing in numbers is inhumane. I volunteer at a shelter and they have over 500 cats looking for homes.
People can be irresponsible. In my sig. pic the sheltie was brought home my first day at the shelter.

    To Autogeek Online....

Depending on your location, cats typically look for places to keep warm and to keep them safe so this "may" be a seasonal thing. My suggestion is to simply cover the front of your car with an appropriate cloth or cover. Possibly a padded tablecloth cover that's soft on one side and waterproof on the other...
