youtube and "geofatboy" or "mantic59" videos will become your friend when learing wet shaving.

Re: Guys, any of you have extremely sensitive skin when shaving?
I just pluck each hair out one my one. I'm manly like that.
Kidding.
Actually, I have a trimmed full beard. (Short). I trim the beard up to a little below my jawline and down off my cheeks just a smidge. Part of the motivation there (other than appreciating the way I look in a beard), is that it's easier to get away with not shaving as my hair also grows fast (5 o clock shadow at noon type of guy). The biggest issue I have is around my throat. The hairs are stubborn and just won't come off with my razor or electric razor without effort. Effort that makes me sore afterwards!
I've been meaning to look into safety razor-ing. I suppose it would work just as well for us bearded folk!

They aren't hard to shave with really, other than don't press down and let the razor do the work.
Same basically as the others just with less pressure and shave in straight lines with more passes. They work very well, I shaved with them myself until a few years ago. Never could find an electric that was worth a crap really.
I don't have a skin irritation problem so I can use the latest technology 5 blade ones.
I have to shave everyday, been that way since I was 17.
Although I am thinking about going back to a safety razor my self once I run out of blades next time.
Buy a good high quality razor and HIGH END Blades, don't skimp and you will happy.

I have an electric that I use on a daily basis. It's a Phillips Norelco 3D Sensotouch. I think it works very well. The Norelco's always work for me.

That's amazing that you had never heard of safety razors, Mark.
I got my first one as a birthday gift when I was 11.
But I believe that was way before disposables, and such, were even invented!

Re: Guys, any of you have extremely sensitive skin when shaving?
Ugh, I hate even thinking about shaving. I do it about every other day or two, and I am like most everyone in this topic by having sensitive skin. I only shave in the shower now with hot water. I can't stand the after effects otherwise.
I'm also using Aveeno aftershave lotion, but does anyone else find that it's a bit filmy? I try to use a tiny amount, but sometimes I still find my face kind of oily after using it.
Now I'm going to research about safety razors. Thanks for the posts, everyone.
PS: For those using safety razors, how long is the shelf life?

Exactly..
Pretty much the same story here for me except I got mine at 16.
Not sure why one would have to watch a video on how to use one...

Stop into an Origins and sweet talk them into giving you some samples of the men's line. The have a non foaming shaving cream that works great for me. And the after shave is non burning and really soothes the skin. Over shaving tight skin is something to avoid, and always use a clean blade on sensitive areas.

The razor blade itself? I get about 4-5 shaves out of each one. The handle that holds the razor blade? Indefinitely.
Btw, one extra tip: a hot damp towel on the face before you add anything like preshave oil or shaving cream really helps soften the stubble up. Better then just standing in the shower.
