blend of single stage and clear coat

I have a 2007 Tundra with the "superwhite" paint. I have confirmed it came with single stage paint. I 'm having some repairs done and the shop insists its a clearcoated paint but I KNOW different. Can I expect it to match? My thinking is it will not be as white.

    ^^^IMHO...More than likely: No.^^^

Why won't this shop agree with you?
All they have to do to concur, is look in driver side door jamb
and see if the paint code is: 040 (Super White II).

If they still insist you're wrong: Time to pick out a different shop!!

    JMHO.

There a a lot of shades or tones of every color including white.

Clearcoated paint compared to single stage paint has more of a plastic look to it when comparing both paints together that are polished and waxed.

I can't always tell a clearcoat from a non-cleared paint system without actually testing.

White is kind of tricky to test, I explain how here,

How to Test for Single Stage or Clear Coat Paint

To test for a colored single stage paint, try to use a white polish and a white applicator or light colored applicator or cloth.

If you're testing white paint then try to use a polish with a color to it and a dark colored cloth. The reason for this is so you can confirm that you're removing white paint and not just seeing the color of the polish or the cloth.

If the cloth and polish are both white it will be hard to see paint pigment.

This is also in my how-to book, all versions.

Simple fix get a new autobody shop. Some just don't want to spray single stage and will do anything to get out of it.

Re: blend of single stage and clear coat

I have a 2012 Tacoma colored Black(202). After hearing rumors of 202 being a single stage paint system I called Toyota direct. I was told by the pleasant lady on the phone that my truck has the clearcoat in the base coat. I said it's "it's mixed together, huh?" She said yes.

Sounds like a cheaper way to try and do the right thing.
