A good trim dressing...

Anyone here have a good trim dressing they can recommend me? The plastic trim on my 2013 Scion tC doesn't like Meguiar's Ultimate Black (worked great on the Mazda3's plastic trim), so then I tried Chemical Guys Natural Shine dressing, it's water based, but a little bit of morning dew made it run right off, so that isn't working for me. Meguiar's D156 is said to work well on trim as well, but even it doesn't help and all the plastic around the windshield winds up getting all spotty and dried out looking. I don't know what to use.

I did use some of Adam's APC to remove the spots and the trim now looks great, but it's basically unprotected. If the plastic on this car doesn't play well with the dressings I've used, I can only imagine it won't accept any dressing when it's all dried out and discolored. Toyota plastics seem like they don't like trim dressings at all.

What's a good plastic trim dressing?

FWIW......I was using 303 Aerospace on my trim but was not happy with the fact that it would not last long on my Scion xB trim. I tried CG G6 and haven't looked back.

Prima Infinity is very good. Its polymer based, so its fun watching the trim bead water like crazy when it rains. Its lasts a bit longer than other conventional products.

For a new car though, you may want to looking into a trim coating type product.

I was looking at the G6 Hyper Coat, bot noticed it's water based as well. When I used the Natural Shine "cream", if you will, it looked great, but the next morning, the dew just melted it all off and it was all gross and streaky looking. There's 10 bucks spent on something that doesn't work for me.

I want to try the G6, but I'm afraid it'll give me similar results.

Yeah, I like it when the plastic trim beads like the paint, lol. Meguiar's UB worked VERY well on the Mazda3's plastic. It never stained the plastic, never ran off, never caused water spotting, it was great. But on my tC's plastic, it actually caused some of the plastic to spot up like crazy and discolored the trim a little. Once a cleaned it with the APC, it looks black again, but it's unprotected.

What if I put some MPL on the trim, let it sit for a minute and then buff it off? Would that just stain the trim?

Try some WETS or UTTG. Or if you have a WOWA sealant, that should work well if the trim is new.

I use Chemical Guys G6 as well... you are right - it is water-based and will streak/spot/run when wet. As others have suggested, a trim coating like DLux or GTechniq C4 would be your best bet for new trim.
