Simply put, the current onslaught of the NRA and gun owners in general would be in question based on isolated incidents regardless of their severity.....Unless the FBI is lying too.....but then again how would you validate anything the government reports?

A smart man makes the numbers say anything have to.....

Well, there's lies, damn lies, and then there's statistics. You can twist them around to support any argument you have. And speaking of "redirecting" he pivoted away from the much lower murder rate in England, to refocus on the violent crime, saying that less guns doesn't reduce violent crime, but it seems to reduce murder, doesn't it? Perhaps much of the violent crime we have here results in murder due to guns, so it winds up in the murder category...but I guess that would be in the way you filter the statistics...

Like the old saying goes, ''Figures don't lie, but liars figure''.

This is my opinion: Poll results depend on what demographic is polled. The results can be skewed to ''prove'' what the pollster wants to, and opinion can be skewed by how the poll results are reported. For instance, a poll with a margin of error of 3% reveals that 52% of the respondents say ''the sky is blue''. One group says "Poll reveals that the majority of people believe the sky is blue''. The other group says ''Poll reveals that almost half the people believe the sky isn't blue''.

Statistics are a bit harder to manipulate, but it can be done.

My position on the Second Amendment is: What part of ''Shall not be infringed'' don't you understand?

Re: Choose your own Crime Stats

I'm afraid statistics, polls, or all the rest aren't going to matter. The American public will not tolerate what happened in Newton anymore. Very similar to 9-11. The people demanded immediate and harsh action, no matter if it was misguided. And they got it. And they will get it here too. I have retired from a long and successful run in the competitive shooting sports. None of us owned more than a few weapons. These people than own 25+ weapons and can't hit a barn from 10 feet with any of them are nothing to worry about. "Beware the man that only owns one gun: He probably knows how to use it."
