I imagine your sound car has some sort of software with it. Through the software you reset it.

One of the steam games I have, Defense Grid (awesome game btw) requires me to verify integrity of game cache once in a while or else it crashes on startup. Yours may similarly have gotten corrupted and this is all you have to do through steam to get it to work again.

Go to your steam library, right click on the game's name, select properties, local files tab then click verify integrity of game cache. If you don't see the progress bar move within about 10 seconds, cancel and click verify again and it should work.

Verifying the integrity gave me no corrupt files. I went to my sound card and everything was fine. For some reason this is a bug on windows 7 or on my alienware.

Ya sounds like a driver issue. Windows most recent update has given a lot of people problems like this. Rolling back with system restore confirms this. Disable automatic updates to stop it from happening again. Also, a system restart might of fixed it. There might not have been a driver present until you restarted your Alienware.

Which Alienware do you have? My brother just got an Aurora. I have a 630 and 720 XPS. Both heavily modified.

Which games do you guys play? I'm a Starcraft 2 and Battlefield 3 guy, with the occasional Steam marathons of course.

    I have an alienware m14x
    here are my specs
    1600 by 900 graphics
    6gb ram
    650gt graphics card
    500gb hard drive

I mostly play pay day the heist and oblivion, gta 4 which has some problems. Battlefield 3 will be my next game, but however it is expensive right now

how would I fix the issue if I have the system on no automatic updates. Should I just do system restore if it persists

Re: Audio problems on pc game

I wouldn't system restore. Things can get messy in your registry if you restore too often. If it happens again, go to Alienwares tech support site. You'll be able to select your M14x and it'll show you the latest audio drivers. Download and install the latest audio drivers before restarting. This should fix the problem, even after an update.

And ya I understand about BF3 being too expensive. I'm holding off on the Premium expansion pack until they lower the price (Just a matter of time). I think I bought BF3 on Black Friday with an Origin birthday coupon for $29
