Calling home/DYI folks advice on drills.

I'm looking for a really really nice drill for home projects AND car projects. So I need a drill that will last through the abuse for some time. As of right now I am eye balling the DeWalt XRP 18V
Seems really nice and I see the maintanece guys at work using only this brand. I asked and they recomened the DeWalt XRP 18V. Just wanting to know what you home/DIY folks are using and why you like it.

i have the Makita 18V and i can't say anything bad about it.
the battery last for a long time, and you get an extra battery when you buy it, and it's also budget friendly

i have the dewalt xrp 18v...great drill that has never let me down in the 8 years i have owned it...i will say it has one down side...heavy as hell...but that is something you have to consider for a drill this powerful...sucks when you have to hold it up above for and extended amount of time...

Were did you get it orngez? The cheapest I found it was $277 on sale then what ever shipping is. Lowes wants $299 :-/

i actually got it in an 18v combo pack from home cheapo during a sale...was like 499 for the drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, 18v powered work light, 2 batteries, charger, and a nifty molded hard case to boot....

Damn they want $299 just for the molded case 2 batt and the drill with handle. But I did just find them on flea bay cheaper then that with the same componants. I may go that route.

I have the same drill (Dewalt) and cannot say enough on how they are built. Got mine off Ebay for like 100.00 less at some Tool Depot company. I did a price search on Google and then started looking to I found a "new" one. They even tossed in another battery.

Dewalt is a very good brand. I don't have that specific model but the one I have seems way better built than the Black & Decker one I had previously. I don't think you can go wrong with Dewalt.

Bosh bar none! You will be sorry if you do not! You can drop that critter from 20 feet if you choose but why would you want to? I have had Royabi, Dewalt, Millwakee, Hitachi,! My Millwakke freaked from a 3 foot drop, my dewalt never accepted batteries proper an did not last as long as Millwakkee. Hitachi is good. Ryobi low end. I screw 10,000 on average screws a year to decking on side. I have PorterCable, Dewalt (cord drill and sander chop saw) Bosh Jig saw, Paslode finish and framing hammer Hitachi drill driver good tool. I am still sorry I did not buy the Bosh!
Bosh hands down the best bar none! I would swear by them !
