    garage epoxy floors

hey a little off topic questions. my daughter is building a new house and wants an epoixy floor for her garage. both she and her husband are into detailing (courtesy of moi). I do know that you need to wait 30 to 60 days for the concrete to cure after pouring before doing an epoxy floor. i wanted to know if anyone has a couple product recommendations for this. looks to be pretty straightforward process but the devil is always in the details (personally, the little woman went out and tiled my entire 2 and 1/2 car garage, i'm a lucky man). thanks

I have the quickrete brand on my floor....I love it was super easy to do. Make sure you don't skip the etching step...many people try to cut that out so they don't have to work with the acid based part of the process but that is crucial to the bonding of the epoxy flooring

Ok, I did a TON of research on this when I did my floor - and I believe the best is: Epoxy Paint For Garage Floors – Epoxy-Coat.com
Great product, ease of use, and the durability is amazing. Trust me, you do not want to skimp on this product.

I'd like to do this too, after I get the cracks and spalting fixed.

From what I've heard, preparation is vital, and getting a quality product to start with is too. And follow instructions.

I used the above mentioned epoxy-coat system with good results. It's a good system and user friendly for the dyi'er. My local lowes sells it for 194.00. That is enough to do 400 sq ft at 9 Mils thick or 200 sq ft at 20 Mils thick. It has a 2 sided measuring stick for either thickness. The only thing it doesn't come with was a clear or top uv sealer. I bought the sherwin Williams brand clear top coat for around $60. Would highly recommend following up with that to prevent any yellowing.

I used epoxy-coat on both garages, I hope your epoxy doesn't yellow, I put quik krete epoxy clear coat, and after 2yrs it's starting to yellow.. On the next garage I'm doing I'm getting the clear from epoxy-coat. Costs Alot more, but it's uv resistant, you can even apply it in direct sunlight.

    Thanks!

I am curious on the yellowing...I have not seen anything happen to mine and when I talked to the Epoxy people, they said I would be fine without using it.

Take a look at a polished concrete floor. I'm getting a price for that in my garage soon.

You need to put some kind of molding to cover the Unpainted cracked edges. Other than that it looks great. No pun intended.
