I don't think you're mistaken.
He has posted his own pics from inside that garage and working on those cars. I remember reading his write-up on the yellow Lambo and how the guy used it as his daily driver to pick his kid up from school or something. Seems like the dash had footprints on it or something from the kids shoes being propped up there.

I used to work on Cell Towers and then I used to work on garage doors so I have an idea on what he may have done. First, the garage door is similiar to what they use for the airplane hangers, only they made a front porch attached to it. Those are extremely expensive. Second, I built a cell tower site in someones yard. We didn't want the techs to be driving in the grass and tearing it up when it gets muddy. So what we did is dug out the are where we were making the driveway.Then layed gravel. Layed pavers that had holes like this
Plant the grass in it and it turns out kinda like this
