It took me two hours to download and extract and then I get an error message. Hope my iPhone isn't toast.

a lot of people are downloading all at once may take sometime good luck!!

Pretty sure you can't brick an iPhone through a software upgrade...you can always do some type of hard reset.

Right Matt. No brick but upgrade still failing. Very frustrating. I'm afraid to try the iPad because it is always quirky on backups. Arrrg.

Just started the download myself.. it started at 17 minutes left and had slowly moved up to 39 minutes.. Apple must be bogged down cause I think the wife has us on the 50Mbps FIOS service..
