Doesn't seem to make any difference anymore. Those they vote for are only slightly sharper than the dimbulbs. Maybe.

Mine is that they breed

Somebody told my brother-in-law to wipe his car down with gasoline before waxing his car. They said it will make it shine better.
I'm sticking with IPA or Paint Prep.

Unless u have a Delorean with a stainless steel finish wouldn't gasoline eat thru your paint? Plus gas is expensive why waste? When I first heard of people using IPA to strip wax I thought they were reffering to India Pale Ale,that beer's gross so you gotta use it for something.

Re: The Worst Secret Technique I've Ever Witnessed!
I just remembered this. Speaking of bad technique, you guys will love this one....
I have a buddy who helps me out during the summer months. He's been detailing for a long time for all the wrong people basically, ha. So when he started this summer, one of the vehicles we had needed the engine done.
So, I asked him...can you do engines? He goes "Yeah, of course...they're easy". I obviously ask..."What's your process?". He says this "I spray some APC, pressure wash, spray dressing...and shut the hood and let the heat of the engine dry it off." LOL
As you would expect...I claimed that's not gonna work. He says "No, it does...we did it all the time at Ford". I laughed, let him do it. I did the engine on the vehicle next to the one he was working on, showed it to him...and asked him to pop the hood on his. He got the point. lol

Re: The Worst Secret Technique I've Ever Witnessed!
Had someone share something with me last night that I thought would fit this thread.
So, I was at the shop late polishing a sweet 66 GTO (thread and pics coming). A random customer stops in and just starts having small talk with me basically.
Then, he was asking what I was doing yada, yada, yada. He decides to give me a "tip" about washing a vehicle. He says "The best way to wash a vehicle, is to run a hose over the room and let the water trickle down while you scrub with a wash mit. That way you get rid of all the dirt before you wash".
I quickly corrected him and said that would be completely incorrect, ha. Not only are you scrubbing dirt around on your paint...but you're not even using the lubrication from soap! Unreal.

Wow!
That sounds like a terrible idea.

A vehicle-specific forum I read has a huge population of people that dress their tires with Pledge. Yikes.
