Random Question - Shower glass
So we just moved into a brand new house (we are the first people to live in it) about 3 months ago. Even though we have a housekeeper once a week, it is beginning to get hard for her to remove the water spots from the glass. Do you think DP glass restorer will work on this? If I cover it with OCW or some other spray wax it will keep the spotting down?

Re: Random Question - Shower glass
Jenn,
A few years back while watching some cleaning guru on the DIY network I got a good tip on cleaning glass. This lady demonstrated quite a few chemical cleaners and when all else failed she broke out the tap water and corn starch...that's right...corn starch. I don't recall how much she used, but the water was milky color and she used it as a polish sort of. It worked real good on her demonstration with spotty windows. I've always kept it in the back of my mind for future use.
No joke...you may try searching for it one the DIY website. I wish I could remember that lady's name.

I think the DP will work. I used it on cups that had seen better days from harsh detergents and they cleaned up nicely.
If you dont have any Id be more than happy to send you some!

Re: Random Question - Shower glass
Jenn, I had some really bad waterspots on my car mirrors that I know were there long before I bought it and DP Glass Restorer cleaned every bit of them off. I've never tried on a shower door but glass is glass.

A couple ideas (we do these):
> Polish the glass and tile with your Flex or PC, orange pad, meduim to fine polish medium
> Use sealant on the tile
> Use Rain-X on the glass
Q:
Want to put that California Water Blade to use ('cause you don't use it on the car anymore)?
A:
Use it after each shower to wipe down the tile and glass. Bath dries much faster, uses the exhaust fan less and drasticly reduces mildew and soap film build up (what you're fighting now).

I'm not so bright sometimes and didn't even think of the rain-x. I don't have any but I think I have some aquapel in the garage.
Secondly....the waterblade idea is a good one.

I've used numerous waxes and sealants with good results. The absolute longest lasting and easiest to apply has been Opti Seal. Since the glass and brightwork still need regular cleaning with some most-likely stout cleaning agents, especially with harder water, I think you'll find Rain X and other glass products lack longevity. A squeegee hanging in the shower is a great preventative measure and only takes a minute. You've only got one opportunity to keep new stuff like new. After I give it a workout on a couple of vehicles I'll probably hit mine with Opti Coat.

Hey, I had one of those once! Wasn't much for cleaning and had a crabby disposition so I had to fire her. She was such a good "housekeeper" she did indeed keep the house! Took half of everything else too!
My "interviews" are a lot more thorough these days.

I will try the optiseal. it is sitting out on my detailing shelf as we speak.
As for housekeepers, for most guys I suspect the "interviewing" is much more fun than "hiring."
