As seen on my drive to work today, the sign popped up yesterday during the day, have not seen any actual enforcement cameras yet. edit: The enforcement is going to be speed cameras.

Enjoy the roads as much as you can, while you still can. Big Brother is going to make it uncomfortable to drive in the future with all the cameras and what not.

I wonder what exactly is being photo enforced though? Speed cameras? I'd hope not.

It is Speed Cameras ... they have been talking about this for a while, @#$#@%!

They have those everywhere out here. It could mean a few things:

Marked Police Car on side of the road taking picture of speeders
Unmarked Police Cars
Civilian Cars
Stationary cameras in plain sight
Stationary camers out of site

etc. etc....all for the police department to generate revenue. And its working out here. But it does nothing for speeders on the highway. Out here in the DC/MD/VA area we have a beltway. Posted speed limit is 55 MPH. Do people do this speed? Hell no. The average is about 70-75 MPH. They are going to start putting up speed cameras around the beltway. They are going to make a ton of money. Honestly...if it can cut down on speeders and accident related deaths, I'm for it. People out here ball anywhere...side streets, residential streets, highways, in front of schools etc.

In the Denver Metro Area there are over 6k cameras monitoring traffic in various ways... We have had this going on for about 5 years and they are installing more each day!

I agree with the big brother statement as honestly we no longer have private lifes!

I wish this was done in more places to be honest. You hear of way to many people being hurt or killed due to negligent driving.

This will only help in getting people to slow down and be more careful.

Sorry this is coming to your area...Been around mine for over a year. There is a Class-Action Civil Lawsuit being brought up against this action...time and money will tell the tale.

One issue is the lay-off/termination of members of the police force......don't need as many now, the beauracrats say.; HMMMMM...the major crimes rate has began to escalate, though. I wonder why? DUH

On a lighter note: Looks like your making those six hour, 500 mile, "moonshine running" days are almost over.

They have had red light cameras here but there has been controversy given that 1) they are operated by third parties who work on commission and 2) you cannot really contest the photo.

I do not see any legally wrong with the concept of cameras as long as it is no different than a human. It is now just technology makes it so much easier to catch speeders.

I agree with you on the negligent driving, however speeding is not negligent. Driving while talking on a cell phone, texting, not paying attention - that is negligent and should be what is being enforced.

I kinda disagree... It seems that here people don't care about the ticket as they are usually about $25-40 each and they don't count against your license unless you have more than"X" amount of them...

The problem that cameras will never fix is the texters, talkers, eaters, drinkers, yelling at the kiders, readers, combing you hairers, makeupers, shavers, tooth brushers, surfing on the webers, emailers, doing workers, and worst of all (as they are all of the above but a lot worse) teenagers!
