The others mentioned here, Brinkman and Char-Broil I have heard nothing but bad stuff as they are poorly built. The seams are poorly done so it is very difficult to get a good, stable temp.
The Brinkmann water smoker I own does a great job and I have no trouble maintaining stable temps. It does not have the air vents that Weber offers, but other adjustments are easy enough to compensate. I've worked larger units and know how fickle they can be, so the adjustments are no biggie to me. They just work a bit differently. You get what you pay for, though, and I understand why many people will complain. Build quality and materials on mine were fine for the money spent.
I will agree that I don't like the Char-Broil shape and feel, but I've never used one of their water units, so I can't comment on them.
