    Im Making a Homemade Wax

So I read through all of the thread by rubbishboy on DW and It got me thinking about making my own wax. I have begun making some waxes and it is really interesting.
I have tried several combinations so far and I have finally created a workable wax. It has been really fun to try and it is rewarding to create something that can be put on a vehicle. I have one that is workable enough to apply and remove and it looks good but it isn’t up to the AG product standards quite yet.
Anyone out there with more knowledge than me please chime in because right now this blind squirrel is just hoping to find a nut
It is interesting to see the creative math going on with wax companies. Saying 100% on the tub is very misleading… Carnauba is super hard and the only way to make it workable is to add solvents so already the 100% is blown. What they mean when they say that is “Out of the wax content carnauba is 100%”
I haven’t taken many pictures yet but I will begin to and post them here.
    My Supplies:
    • Carnauba wax
    • Bees Wax
    • Candilla Wax
    • Turpentine
    • Linseed Oil
    • Coconut oil
    • Orange Oil (coming soon)
Here are some pics and I will post more as I go along

Very interesting. Hope it works out for ya! I wonder though, is making your own wax cost efficient?

Right now I could have bought supernatural and still had money left over to buy more products. I am doing this for the experience and fun rather than cost efficiency

Haha that's crazy. I'm assuming it would make much more then 8oz though. So you possibly could come out on top, granted it works. Yeah, the experience is definitely a cool thing.

This is something I have always wanted to do so my hat is off to you! Are you planning on commercially producing this or is it more of a hobby type experiment? Either way, I am definately subscribing.

It really is fun to play around with. If I create something that is worthy of being sold then I would love to sell it. If I create a wax that is nice with AG's permission I'd love to send it out to a few ppl free of charge and have them review it for me and let me know what they think of it. Corey I'd love a review of it and Christian900 I'll make sure you get one too

Re: Im Making a Homemade Wax

Wow I have to admit that is rather interesting. I always wondered just how much effort it takes to make a good car wax. I would be interested if you posted up your quick notes on how you chose the mixtures and what not. Unless like you said its all just a shot in the dark. Cant wait to read the reviews when you finish with it.
