    Re: radar detector

Well ss-truck let me tell you that the main top brands in the Radar Detector market are Escort, Beltronics, and Valentine One. Now these are countermeasure devices and will only help if you use them properly. So going 20-30 over the speed limit and thinking it will save you all the time think again. Depends on where you live ,but if they use a laser device to check your speed then you will be toast most of the time with a RD. Laser Jammers are another type of coutermeasure device ,but it is expensive. Well has for getting a Radar Detector the front runners are Escort Passport 9500ix ($500) and the Valentine One ($400). The main differences between the two is that the 9500ix has GPS capabilities for Red light cameras, speed cameras, and to lock out false alerts and will be much silent if you are doing city driving because you can block out known false alerts. Now for the Valentine One it has arrows to tell you if the radar or laser signals is coming from the front, sides, back and does have somewhat better laser detection abilities ,but remember most of the time they have your speed when your Radar Detector picks up a laser signal. Going with a cheap radar detector will not be a good investment in the long run. The best thing for you to do is to research on radar detectors and maybe do a 30 day test trail from Escort or Valentine One.

I've been through all of those. Cheap, expensive, stealth installation, etc. They won't save you and they just make you paranoid. Spare yourself the torture.

Escort 8500 and 9500 are excellent radars. They're about $300+ dollars. The Valentine is perceived as being the best radar and costs $400. The Escort beat the V1 in severtal range tests but the V1 offers the directional arrows which is pretty cool. I went with the Escort and it's saved me but I generally don't speed excessively.

Valentine also offers upgrades to the unit that will fit in the chasis. They also offer 2 sensors, front and rear.

IMHO keep the speed down in reality you do not get there any quicker.

    Re: radar detector

I have Blinder M45's on the front and rear, plus a Bell STI detector. I just sit back and watch the radar and lasers melt in their hands.
