Do these companies know that you will only be working during the winter and then leave when Spring comes? I guess I could see where a store general manager would be hesitant to hire someone only to lose them once they are trained.

Is there anything around you that is seasonal towards winter like ski resorts? (I ask because I have no idea where you live)

A lot of the places that normally hire seasonal people aren't, like the mall etc. Their all cutting normal employees out in general. I still know people that just graduated college back in May and still haven't found a job even at the places they interned at. Had another friend who left down here, was hired by a company in NY so moved up there, and about 5 months later, they laid him off and ton of others (Robert Half).

Its pretty tough here in Kentucky too, I went from 8-10 cars per week down to 1-2 a week, so about a month ago I started looking for full time employement ( I have 12 years of Marketing & Sales background ) and man it is rough out there...probably applied to 40 different companies with about three interviews from all 40 and still have not landed a job, its very frustrating.........kinda gets you down at times............weather is pretty crappy here thats why my detailing business has slowed down so much and the fact everyone is afraid we as a nation are going into recession which means they are extremely careful now with their spending, which means very little business for me. But, Hang in brother it will get better.

Yup it's bad, I was going to quit but there is just nothing to go too. All employees have been forced to go part time or take a pay cut. If you didn't like it find another job. I'll work until they fire me or I get sick of the place and give my 2 weeks.
