Re: Reason to Lock Your Car

That sounds like kids just fooling around doing that, I didn't interpret Chilly to mean that those people opening garage doors were going to steal something. But I'll let him confirm that.

Unfortunately, wondering if someone is going to steal is in the back of my mind. I'm very cautious when I have to have service men come to the house. You just never know.

I am not really sure what the motives were to be honest, this was literally 50 years ago during the CB craze and some guys I just kind of knew through our off roading club were talking about it

Sadly I am the same way anymore

Last summer when we started sorting and purging we sold and even gave away stuff by the boss going on FB Marketplace, but we would never let anyone come here to the house and look at it or pick it up, we would meet on neutral ground

She has bought stuff off FB as well and most sellers do the same thing

I don't want to advertise what is in my house or garage

We had a new housecleaning service start about a month and a half ago and I am honestly nervous, despite them being bonded, insured, etc

I don't leave small valuables lying around anyway but you just never know

Our new area is probably about 500% safer than Anchorage, and this borough (county) is one of the most heavily armed areas in the US

Still, I hate dealing with insurance and all that so I would rather be proactive regarding home security

    Rant off

Re: Reason to Lock Your Car

My parents always lock up and hide breakables and valuables when their housekeeper comes over. Better to not have something break or evenget stolen. Most people who come to the house may seem honest but it is so true that you never really know a person. Taking these precautions leads to peace of mind.

And I grew up in a half decent suburb. Despite that,it was quite unwise to leave your doors unlocked
