    White Rust

    Hi guys,

any ideas as to how to get rid off the white rust on the metal in the engine compartment (or anywhere) ?

I'd preferably like to use a product(s) available in Australia, but open to all suggestions.

    Cheers !!White Rust-vrust-jpg

I haven't seen that for a while, but I remember using WD-40 and a fine wire brush years ago. They may be something more up to date now.

You need an acid based product to remove this.

You can buy specific products, but try using white vinegar. Start at a 50/50 dilution and work your way up from there.

Spray on only or using some sort of brush as well ?

(I was also thinking adding soda bicarbonate, I know it works wonders with white vinegar).

From memory, you can use bicarb as well, teamed with a brush. You will need to rinse it with clean water to neutralize afterwards.
