Have you considered switching to a Nespresso machine? My wife and I stayed at a hotel a few years ago and tried the Nespresso machine in the room. It made a surprisingly good cup of coffee.

One reason I like Nespresso better than Keurig is that the small cannisters of coffee are made out of aluminum instead of plastic. And of course they can be recycled.

As for the machine, we bought a $70 Nespresso machine off of Amazon in 2018. My wife and I have used it to make multiple cups of coffee each day and that little machine is still going strong.

One final point. For those of you who are at all concerned about the environmental impact of these single serving coffee machines, here is an article published in the Washington Post about research that shows these types of machines are actually better for the environment overall. The reason is that if you make a single cup of coffee, you use a lot less energy than if you make a pot of coffee.

The wife and i tried a nespresso machine at dominican republic that was in our room. While it only brewed 2oz it was discusting lol. Luckily we could get a pot of coffee from room service.

Im a simple man, those seem quite fancy, im not all about the mini machines with baby water tanks lol

But what the heck is up with all that foam it makes? Haha

Also what does each cup of coffee run ya with those pods?

I have a nespresso at work, sitting next to a keurig. When i use it, it's usually either coffee with a shot of espresso or espresso & water (americano). I had to try a few different pods until I found one I liked.

If you buy the Nespresso capsules at Starbucks or Peet’s, they cost 70 to 80 cents per capsule. But I buy the large package of 80 Peet’s capsules at Costco and I think it costs about 40 to 45 cents per capsule. I usually use 2 capsules per cup of coffee.

Amazon Warehouse is another option to get them cheaper. I have gotten Peet's capsules that are expiring in less than 90 days for half price.

What you used was an espresso pod. The have a bunch of different ones. The big ones Brew a normal cup of coffee.

This is exactly how we discovered Nespresso. We were staying at this small boutique-y type hotel in Montreal and it had this little Nespresso. It was great.

I've had a Keurig K-Elite for quite a long time now, with no real issues. We also have a Nespresso Inisia which unfortunately has kicked the bucket, but I think that's due to user error.

My mother got us a couple of packages of Nespresso espresso pods, but they were "aftermarket" (for lack of a better word) from some outfit in NYC. A special custom blend in a pod that didn't quite have the exact shape as the Nespresso pods, but anyway...I noticed the machine was working pretty hard to extract only a little coffee. What that said to me was that these pods were very densely packed. Because of that, something went wrong with the pump and it doesn't work well anymore. Sadly my Nespresso machine is now basically a dust collector.

I'd like to get one of the new Virtuo Nespressos. Maybe this summer I'll pick one up. At one point in time I had 4 separate and distinct coffee makers on the counter - Keurig, Nespresso, a French press, and a Starbucks Verismo which I believe has already been discontinued for a long while.

To the OP - sorry about your bad luck with the Keurig machine. It sounds like you've really given them a fair chance, though! Maybe a Nespresso is in your future...

If I didn't know any better I would think your living off grid! Using an inverter that the coffee maker doesn't like. I say this because I lived off grid for 1/3 of my life and making power with inverters can get tricky.

There’s a guy that I work with that built a tiny house on his farm, he has a solar panel setup that charges batteries in his house and everything he has runs on 12v and natural gas tanks. It’s pretty nifty.

Nespresso uses high pressure (19 bar, which is 275 psi) so it will work harder than a Keurig.
