Re: Mike Phillips resigning from 3D Products
You always have to consider the source when someone is reviewing something. That includes who signs their paycheck or if they're incentivized in any way. That doesn't mean it'll be dishonest but they may be more inclined to hold back on the negatives or downplay them a little more or not mention a better competitive product.

Lets not compare Pan to Mike Phillips, that would be greatly disrespectful to Mike.

You're lucky, Opie.
He used to spread his BS on here.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

I'd guess it boils down to learning the techniques vs the brand you're using. Mike is all about the fundamentals. On the podcast today, He mentioned another book he's working on.
When it comes down to it, you can polish with toothpaste if need be. I'm willing to bet a lot of us have used it in a pinch to remove a scratch when visiting a friend.

I can't say that I've ever used toothpaste or hand lotion to polish out a scratch or scratches. And I never will. There is no type of scratch that I would ever consider as an emergency repair that I would settle for Colgate or Aveeno as a viable replacement for legitimate paint polish.

It’s funny this comes up… Because just last night I actually clicked on 1 of his videos and watched it [which is something I hadn’t done in more than a year at least]
Something about “top mistakes detailers make” or something of that sort. So I figured eh ok at least the topic is interesting so lets check it out. However as I’m sitting there watching I find it progressively harder to sit through because all the guy’s talking about is old freakin news. It’s like a total regurgitation of the same ole beginners information that I’m sure he’s made like 10 videos on before, and then he talks as if he’s explaining the stuff to a bunch of 5yr. olds. Ehh…
I cant help but wonder if even he’s sick of hearing himself talk but at this point he just makes videos for the sake of making videos and just lives his life that he sold himself out to be. There’s no new info, and if there is it sure isn’t going to come from him because he’s as cookie cutter as it gets.

His countless articles/videos of fundamentals and how to's is for me personally what laid the groundwork that helped me build my skills i have today. I believe it put me years and lots of money ahead of where i would have been had i tried to learn it all from trial and error.
I highly doubt it would happen, but if given the chance i would shake the mans hand to thank him for that.
