The FINAL piece of the puzzle has arrived (excited)
After a slight hassle, and an email to the HR Department of my former employer, then waiting 7 weeks, "It" finally arrived. The ONE THING (actually 2 things) that I REALLY wanted was hand-delivered by the Patrol Commander of my department to my house yesterday afternoon. I was SO excited to get them, I could barely contain myself. My oldest (and Autistic) son asked what they were, and what they meant, when I showed it to him.
To keep things at a level he could understand, I told him they were "trophies," like an award for lasting long enough to retire. THAT he understood and (bless his heart), he told me I needed to keep them AS trophies, for having dealt with everything I had been made to deal with. He has no idea how right he got it.
So what are these 'trophies?' They may seem like a small thing to some people, but for me, they are an affirmation of having stood the line between the good people and those that would do them harm for over 30 years.
"They" are my Retirement Badge, and Photo ID.
It FINALLY feels like I can close that chapter of my life and move forward, now that I have the PROOF of my 30+ year struggle.

LOL, believe it or not, Retirement is almost harder than working!
My attitudes have done a COMPLETE 180 and I AM NOT the person that I have been for the last 32 years, not even close. My wife (and Autistic, adult boys) have no idea who this strange man is that LOOKS like their dad/husband, and I'm finding that I am having to reconnect with my entire family all over again. Heck. *I* don't even know who I am half the time.
Not to mention, my sleep pattern SUCKS! For a few months, I was dead-tired and ready to fall down by 5 pm, and waking up at 2 am, raring and ready to go. More recently, I have been able to stay up until 7 or 8 pm, but I'm STILL waking up between 2 and 4 am. My OCD for cleaning my car has turned to the inside of the house (partially because it's still 'winter,' and partially because my Camaro has been in storage - for the first time EVER).
My OCD cleaning, which includes laundry, dishes and anything that doesn't get out of my way fast enough, is driving my wife nuts.
