I really wonder about those "builder-grade" parts they use. We built our house and moved in new. Every time we do a project in the house I run across those cheap parts and shake my head at how bad they really are.

I think there is a pool of barely-possible appliances out there at some of those "builder stores". When we moved into our house we went through at least THREE water heaters before we landed on the one we have now. Each previous one kept having the gas burners fail after only a day or two. Fortunately they were well inside the builder's warranty on the house so they had to deal with it.

I hear you on the builder grade stuff

We had free rein in specing our house and went with high end stuff throughout

    Not fancy, just high quality

    Cheaper in the long run

    Yup.

Buy one $100 tool once, or buy the cheaper $50 tool four times.........

My dad always said “we are too poor to do it twice, do it right the first time”

I’ve always lived by that motto

What a joke. Justanother way to make a few dollars and stick their nose in everybodys shitt.

We replaced our side deck a few years ago, and made it a bit bigger, its still small, nothing elabrit. But some smackoff that was getting nailed for doing shadyshit without permits, was driving around the township looking for folks that were doing work to turn them in. That prick turned us in and we had to pay for a permit and all that shitt And have it inspected. I was pissed just because people cant stay iutta other peoples business

    Re: Water heater down.

I did ask him about the big box store brands. He mentioned they stay away from them. He can't count how many they replaced. You cannot get parts for them! Also asked him about the insulating wraps for them. Not needed. The new ones have plenty of insulation. If you look at your new one, it looks bigger because of all the built in insulation.
