What do you watch? If it’s just cable, it’s not worth getting such a nice TV. If you have a quality streaming device or an ultra HD blu-ray player, then a good TV makes a difference.
One thing to keep in mind is the sound out of these modern TVs sucks big time. You’ll likely want at least a sound bar to have something that sounds ok. My LG’s sound is absolutely junk but I use a Sony sound bar with a sub and then it’s decent.
Thanks for the sound bar advice. I ended ip getting one a few years ago because the sound was junk. My living room is small and this made such a tremendous difference.
If I wait longer I might catch a good Super Bowl sale, and maybe I'll be able to strech those dollar out a little more for something even better.

I think Vizio usually gets mentioned as good bang-for-the-buck. They're cheaper than comparable Samsungs. M50Q7-J01 has quantum color, full array local dimming, which is see for $570 right now. I wasn't able to find that in 65" when we bought our last one so I ended up with a Samsung 7000 series.

You can get a lg 4k uhd 50" for under 500 no problem.
As far as brand personally i buy lg, and i also have a lg soundbar/wireless woofer, which i think works great.
I hope my next one is what bosko and bruno mentioned

I have an older Samsung LED in my living room. Love it. When it came time to build my man cave I wanted an OLED. Wife saw the price of a 65" and said "absolutely not". Instead, I went with a Sony 950 LED. Holy crap, it's amazing. The price in a smaller size isn't terrible and the lower priced 850 has almost all the same features. Samsung has rested on their name for years and others have passed them by. For bang for the buck, look at Vizio and Hisense as others have mentioned.

It all comes down to how much you watch TV and if image quality is SUPER important to you.
Personal, my life revolves around visual communication .
Making the jump to an OLED was worth it......broken down over the years of use you will get ...it's still NOTHING as far as an investment of $$ goes...
