Conventional oil....hard to find, switch to synthetic?
So far all my life ive ran nothing but straight pennzoil conventional oil.(5w30 & 5w20). Never any engine issues. Also always ran a quality oil filter. Usually wix xp filters.
For some reason i can't find it anywhere in person anymore. If i think i do it says synthetic blend, and im not wanting to switch. Ive read years ago that once you switch to synthetic then you can't go back to conventional.
I know the basics that there are...semi synthetic, full synthetic and all that jazz. But blends?
Anyone having a good knowledge on the topic? Thanks

Re: Conventional oil....hard to find, switch to synthetic?
That was the past. All the oils can be switched anytime you want, semi synthetic to synthetic back to conv if you want, it doesn’t matter. However synthetic oil’s have come down in price so much that it’s almost ridiculous to use anything but a full synthetic.
You can read for days about oil over at Bobistheoilguy.com

^^^ What Glen & Roger said ^^^
I have been using "Blends" for years now with zero problems.
As long as the oil you use has an SAE rating, and you use the proper weight oil, you won't have any problems at all.

FWIW I'm currently running Motul XS3100 5w40 full synthetic and a Wix oil filter. It will be just about due for a change when I get back from my trip to Tennessee, back to the thinner stuff for winter.

I’ve only used Mobil 1 full synthetic in all of our Honda and Toyota vehicles over the last 15+ years. No issues.

Yeah, that's the way Roger rolls.
He also uses a blend of Italian & Czechoslovakian gasoline.
He's a freak like that......
