Re: What's in your backyard?
Not in my backyard, but in my driveway looking straight up. Sorry for pic quality, I have my good camera sitting ready now, when they come back.
Who will be first to guess what it is?

Looks like an F22 Raptor Big Dave. Very cool to see that from the backyard...as long as it isn’t too noisy.

Agree. It's an F-22. I see them fly by my work location on the rare occasion...when I'm not in a pandemic telework status.
Based on the size of the first image, it was at a pretty high altitude and shouldn't have been much louder than an F-15 or F-18.
My backyard lately has seen some birds we don't typically see in this area. The birds themselves aren't rare, just in the 13 years of living in this area and at this house, I've never seen them in our feeders before. My guess is our extremely mild winter has changed migration patters this year.

Unfortunately, we don't have the F22 down here, we have F35s just entering service. Their silhouette is so close, and the image was pixelated. The only way to tell in that image is the angle on the intakes, not enough angle for an F22. We used to have Hornets, now out of service, and Super Hornets, all currently grounded due to an incident. Good guesses though, given the image quality.

F-15 Strike Eagle?
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

It's an F35, and they're loud, but I don't mind. Where we lived in Sydney we had commercial airlines all day, up till about 11pm. The F35s and Hawk trainers we might get a few times a day, and only a few days a week.
The coolest thing is when they do a fly past, the area I live is half defense housing, in this case, Air Force. And when a pilot is retiring he's given approval to do a fly past of his house. I've seen it once so far, 4 FA-18s flying past low, and slow. It brings everyone out of their homes. Very cool.

Cool. I grew up on an Army base so we mainly had C-130s flying over with some C-5 Galaxies and Huey helicopters thrown in.

I got to walk inside a C5 at an air show 20+ years ago, I'm still amazed at how those things actually get in to the air.
