That’s the cynical view and not necessarily wrong. But 99% of scientists will never and never expect to be rich.
Capitalism is over worked in America. We need more balance.

Nailed it. Greed will be downfall. Look at the wage gap in this country since the early 70's.

I agree. If you look at all the developed countries that have good standards of living, they are all a mix of capitalism (market based economy) with some form of socialism (social security/healthcare etc.). A better balance is needed. Corporatism/Casino capitalism isn't the answer. I'm not sure what is to be honest.
I was watching Melissa Chen on Joe Rogan a few months back and she said in Singapore they don't understand our obsession with the argument of "big vs small goverment" and L vs R. They look at things more from a "does it work?" perspective and move on that rather than ideology that there is a perfect one size fits all approach.

Well I'm surprised that they even held off on J&J and reported it but recently they reported 4x's the risk of heart inflammation of Moderna, also surprised to read this too

Ha, if the government ran our health care system we would all be f**ked. They cant even(oops theres that word again "they") have a somewhat balenced budget or cometogther and agree on much of anything it seems.
And we know from history that socialism only works for those in charge, not the everyday folks

China is increasingly confident that its model of techno-authoritarian state capitalism is superior to the partisan squabbling, short-termism and selfish individualism it sees in the democratic West. I hope they’re wrong.
Btw, the vaccines are safe
