How's that terminology going to be perceived then when the some get their way and the US turns into a socialist/dictatorship? And big goverment federailizes health care. Then they start telling older folks that your health issues/age is becoming to have a real strain on our health systems and that we are no longer going to be paying for your meds/ surgeries, doc apptments etc.

They say you have basically out lived your helpfulness to society and have become a burden.

Moral of the thought is...some choose to let go of some of the most basic rights of being a US citizen and ultimately a human being, all in the name of public health.

And yet they fail to realize that the wool is being pulled over there eyes for a hidden agenda. Soon it will be not just some of the rights they so freely chose to relinquish but all that will be taken away.

Folks dont ever loose sight of why ppl from all around the world have tried everyday for countless years to flee their country for the US.

Maybe its taken for granted?

And just to add i do not care what side of the political party you are on, because to be frank its politics that keeps the US as a whole divided.

Sorry opie. I didn’t mean to attack you. But the conspiracy theories are one of the reasons we’re in this mess. But regardless I am sorry for responding to you so aggressively. Autogeek is better than that and I will be better than that.

Freedom of speech is a great thing to still be able to do.

Hello,

I very worried about COVID but am more concerned with our government. Sorry, I am neither a republican or democrat but I’m seeing things that are scaring me.
 
Just sharing some facts I was curious about. I’d like to point out that the world wide number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered is tracked to be almost 7 BILLION. And the US has administered over 400 million doses with about 189 MILLION individuals considered to be fully vaccinated against Covid. This represents almost 58% percent of the US population of 330 million people. Those are some large numbers.

But so are the 700,000+ people that have died from Covid, which represents about 0.2% of Americans. That is 1 out of every 500 Americans that have died. Truly sad. Wouldn’t be so sad if we did everything we could to protect American life but we have done a poor job combating this pandemic.

Nearly everything we do in life COULD and often does impact others. Nearly 2 years into this it's past time for everyone to realize the risks involved and make a decision. The acceptable risks and acceptance of that is the stage we're in now. The best defense for those that are at-risk is the vaccine. It is a personal health matter more than public health because at this point the vaccine is available to all but the very young which aren't at any real risk anyway. Make the personal choice to do it or not, wear your mask or not, etc and begin to realize Covid is here to stay and that the risks mainly vary by age group. All-in the survival rate is over 99%. Those are better odds than a lot of things.

YMMV but overall as society continues on I believe we have to begin to move back to a more normal way of doing it. The harm from doing otherwise is adding to the mess we faced. Hopefully, at some point, Washington will begin to target The CCP who unleashed this mess to begin with vs their own citizens. You're not the only one here to have served and if you're not thoroughly disappointed in the leadership in Washington, you're IMO either a better man than me or blind. Their a complete disgrace IMO.

I thought I'd send some statistics back your way from Australia. Not criticism, just facts you may not know.

Out of a population of 25.7 million, we've had a total of 151943 cases, and 1590 deaths, so a fatality rate of just over 1%. It's actually lower than it was last year, as more effective treatments have been developed, and the vaccinated are far less likely to end up in hospital. The deaths total just 0.006% of our population, or 1 in about 16000. Much lower, and there are a number of reasons for this, not in any particular order:

1/ We closed our borders quicker, and we don't share land borders with any other countries, so it was easier.

2/ It was summer over here when it first broke out, and that means winter in the northern hemisphere, and it does seem to be much more transmissible in winter, maybe because more people are inside.

3/ While our population is 25.7 million, our land area is only 5% less than your lower 48 states, 2966000 square miles for Australia against 3119000 for your lower 48. Lower population density.

It seems the more densely populated an area is the more likely it is for an outbreak to occur, and the harder to control. Around 40% of Australians live in the 2 major cities, Sydney and Melbourne, and that's where just about all of our major outbreaks have occurred.

As at tonight, 14779001 Australians are fully vaccinated, about 57% of the total population, which is about the same percentage as the US, but your 189 million sounds far more impressive.

I read this story this morning, apparently there has been some misinformation spreading over in the US about our Covid strategies. They are actually supported by most of the population, and you can see from my previous post that they have been reasonably successful. The ultimate proof is that we've had some state elections, some of them in states with strong restrictions, or strong border controls, and in every one, the party in power has won the election and stayed in power, with stronger majorities mostly.

And as a side note, every eligible adult has to turn up to vote, they don't care what you write on the ballot paper, but you have to get your name marked off. So we see 90% or better valid votes.

It's easy for people to miss the fact that there are many people that died just because Covid existed. Examples are cancer, kidney, heart, etc patients that did NOT go to regular doctor appointments due to the pandemic from the fear of getting sick. They ended up getting sicker or died due to this lack of health care. I argue there are easily more than 700k deaths due to the Covid pandemic.
 
Doesn’t really matter what side one is on. As long as this is over soon.

The supply chain issue is a mess. People don’t want to go back to work as they make more on unemployment than actually working. Sad but true.

The company I work at established the mandate to be vaccinated by December unless an exemption is given which I heard is hard to come by. If one doesn’t get the vaccine then they are not allowed on site and their badge is disabled from scanning into the turn style.

By January everyone has to be vaccinated regardless of religious belief and if working from home.

People may not like it but rules are rules to stay employed.

I would rather have a paycheck than sitting at home twiddling my thumbs worrying about where money is coming from.
 
The attack from China my wife hospital had refrigeration trucks in the parking lot even a few dr passed away from it they all thought it was the end of the world . Now no more attacks from China in my area all is calm
I do believe China is targeting red states still
Bottom line this is a Democrat thing … prove me wrong

What initially caught my attention was a bias towards one viewpoint with no external validation of claims. Then I scrolled down more and saw a lot of donation information requesting money to fight mainstream media. Then I searched for who’s behind Project Veritas, which led to James O’Keefe.

My opinion? More conspiracy information to fight whoever so they can get money donated to them. I doubt they even believe what they’re peddling as long as it gets a reaction in the form of dollars. But hey, a large portion of the public believes this stuff so why not. Ethics matters not anymore.

I think the anti-vax thing is going to over with sooner than later. Then the people who are 100% against it are going to act like they weren't. My job required all employees to get it by Oct. 11th. They just followed another big company in the same field. Its going to be a domino effect with all the big companies and unless you can make a living working for Mom and Pop's Donuts, you'll have to get it too.

Not saying the vaccine works, just stating its going to be a requirement in most places by next summer.

Just like southwest and delta....? They tried that, people took a stand, so they changed their tune.

Money talks, hence booster shots im betting will be a yearly thing from now on

It worked for now, but I bet it'll be a different situation a year from now.

The goverment's already taking the steps to mandate it.

Watch, these companies will receive tax breaks if they have 100% vaccinated staff. The company I work for lost 3% of its employees and didn't bat an eye.

Little different when your a non-profit

Either way, I could care less if people are vaccinated or not.
