Re: Neil Peart, Rush Lyricist/Drummer passes at 67
12/16/1974 changed me. That was the first time I saw the band, at the legendary Agora in Cleveland. Neil had only been with them for a few months, but the difference in the band was obvious. My music cue is filled for the night in tribute. Right now one of my faves, Hemispheres is blasting, and the cold Canadian beers are being raised.
"The Professor" has left the building but his work will live on forever.

When I retired from the fire department, the guys on the shift got me a helmet. They had an artist paint the things I was know for on it. Of the 5 things I was remembered for, Rush was one of them...

Terrible news, his views on life and his perseverance through a devastating tragedy made for truly a great mind. I was 9 when Moving Pictures came out and have been a fan since, rest in piece!

I've been on the edge of vomiting since last night. The man has influenced my life as a human and drummer more than i'll ever know. I hope you're at peace brother. You will be sorely missed.

I bought my chrome clad Slingerland ('79) kit because of that guy.
I would spend hours pouring over his kit and licks.
I liked Fly by Night and Caress of Steel. Not my favorite band but I could never discredit their awesomeness.
I saw them in 76 or so
