Forum activity
I have noticed the activity has really slowed down from what I remember in years past. All aspects of the forum have declined from the amount of Show N Shines, Product reviews, etc. Even when these are posted I remember 2, 3, even 4 pages of comments of others chiming in on said threads. Conversely I see the FB page is very active. So quick and easy for a user to open FB and onto the 101 page and post. Even easier when you can use a smart phone and post pictures to the 101 page as well.
I am more of a forum user and for me its sad to see the inactivity. I enjoy posting threads and helping out where I can.

Re: Forum activity
I’m a forum user too and never see myself on Facebook. I follow both AGO and Autopia and I see Autopia has even less traffic than here compared to years past. The amount of both forums is fine with me though. It makes it easier to keep up with all the threads.
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.

Re: Forum activity
I use both the forum and Facebook. I think the quality of information on here is superior the Facebook. There is definitely an ease of use factor to Facebook because you may be on it scrolling through and then see a detailing post.

I am a 'forum only' person too. I just wish adding a picture to a post was simpler with vBulletin.

Re: Forum activity
Seems to be the norm with forums and transitioning to facebook. The downside to that is the lack of information that can be found on the forum.

Re: Forum activity
The honest truth is I'm surprised it's lasted this long.
Forums are quickly becoming a thing of the past, as forums switch over to FB it kills the main page. And that sucks, as others have said there's so much info on here.
If you want to boost the forum page put on FB a simple blerb that it's only to help direct people here. Don't allow members to post on FB and they'll have to come here.

Re: Forum activity
While I’d noticed it’s been a little quieter here lately, I guess I had just written it off to folks getting ready for winter (everyone has winter, right? ).
That’s too bad to hear if the trend is going towards FaceBook - I’m not on there and have no interest in joining. Queue Mike Phillips and his “Can’t get this info on FaceBook”...
Mainly I just much prefer the vibe/interactions on the forum here versus, well, most everywhere else on the internet.
I’m guilty of being quiet on here, but mainly as a result of not having the time to be as engaged in this hobby as I’d like to be. I end up feeling as though (or for some instances just knowing that) I don’t have enough experience to chime in with my own insights.

Re: Forum activity
Another gripe about Facebook is accessing the information is worthless. You pretty much have to ask a question again rather than look it up in a search. I like how AGO has great information without all the bad. For example, I saw people suggesting on FB that someone use laquor thinner on leather to remove an adhesive pad.

•I’ve noticed that many people complain...some
louder than others...about AGO‘s Forum Rules;
-Rules that are outlined; readily available; and
easily understood, IMO.
On the other hand:
•I refuse to even attempt to play by Facebook’s
“rules”...(rules which seemingly can change on
a whim)...set by a Pecksniffian CEO (that is, IMO:
also capricious; and duplicitous, in and of himself.
•Bottom line:
-I’m an Online Forum guy.

I deleted my Facebook account years ago and am a happier person for it!
