One of my other hobbies. Flashlights

Hello all, I've been hibernating this winter and got out of detailing mode until the weather gets a little better.

Just wanted to share another one of my hobbies which is hot rodding flashlights.
I spent 18 years in the sign business working in a lot of attics and storefront soffits which had me constantly looking for the Holy Grail of flashlights. I'm not alone, the Candle Power Forums have 7000+ active members.

This modification takes an ordinary 2D Maglite and increases the output to the point that it will light paper on fire and set marshmallows ablaze

It called a Mag623 mod after the bulb (Osram 64623) but my youngest son calls this one the "Blue Flame"

It's taken awhile to get everything together, but I'm very pleased with the results.

    Video link HERE Lol

    Specs are:

MagLite 2D host, grooved, finned, patterned and tri-bore machined
    15.6v custom NiMH battery pack
    Soft-start, multi-level incan driver socket/switch
100w Osram halogen bulb (2 million candlepower spotlights use 35 to 50w bulbs)
    Borofloat glass lens
Cammed aluminum LOP (light orange peel finish) reflector

On high, it provides daylight type illumination and shuts off street lights lol
