Headlight Repair Advice Until I Can Replace It

Hello everyone. My wife and I have a 2012 Nissan Versa Hatchback. The right front headlight assembly has developed moisture inside it. We found a hairline crack in the size. Can this be repaired as a short fix? Can we remove the assembly, dry it with a hair dryer to remove moisture, and them run a flat bead of clear rtv to close the hairline crack? This would be tempoary. That way my wife has clear headlights until the assembly can be replaced. Would this work? What would you suggest?

How much moisture is in there? If it is just a light misting, running the headlights for an extended period of time will often generate enough heat to dry them up. If there is more and it's puddling up in the bottom of the lense, it will take a lot more effort to dry them out. I'm not sure what can be used as a temporary repair for the crack.

Maybe it does not have a hairline crack. The left side headlight has the same line in the same spot. Anyway, water is getting somehow? Now, how do I post pictures?

Healights are not "hermetically" sealed where the bulb goes in and can get condensation inside, especially at this time of year with temperature changes. As 'nate said, frequently you can dry them out just by running them...otherwise you can take the bulb out and blow some air in to ventilate them dry. Just make sure whatever air supply you are using is clean, etc.

Your source of the moisture might be from the bulb gasket rather than a crack. I would see if Desernate's suggestion will help drive out the moisture. Many of the aftermarket light vendors do disassemble the unit and then reseal. Check out YouTube for something like this but try to find the source. Given the amount of storms hitting the country these days watch out for deep water on the road.
