I just don't get it????

The forum world has been useing nickname cause it's not possible to have the same name as an account name. And just find a nickname that is not already taken on bigger forums is a hassle. So finding one unusual nickname is something I hold on to and can remember when used on many different forums.
Facebook you can use your own name even if there are others that has the same one as you. But it's not a guarantee that the names on fb is the real persons name. And there are many that impose to be someone with no good intentions. Also can make the life hard to some people by spreading and doing things on Facebook that are not so great. And sure it can happens on the forum world as well. If only every people would be stand up and great persons it would not be any problems with useing your real names. But sadly it's not so and it's gets more common to use internet for all kind of things to make other people a living hell.

I have always used Crovello which is my name. It is not a common name so I am able to use it for a user name almost everywhere I go.

I just use a combination of my name and my business name. As far as Facebook, I make at least a $1k a month from customers I get from shares, likes and referals all from FB.

The real names are not too very important, but please put a location. People asking for advice or giving advice need/should realize that products work differently based on location.

I always went by Paul_g as I do on my Mustang forums. But a while back my profile had a glitch and when Mike fixed it, I think it was he who suggested I use the company name.

I just don't get it? Why not use your name, a part of your name or your business name?

All the chatter about "personal security" seems to fly out the window when it comes to Facebook?

For me it's just a tradition. Before the internet was a thing, I was a SYSOP of a BBS for about 2 years. That was when the Commodore 64 was the main selling computer on the market

On BBSs you had to use a username. Then came the internet and forums replaced what BBS used to be... and I kept on using the same username.

Would it make more sense to use my name... probably
