Lol right. Like the thousands of other random strangers you drive by can’t see the plate. I’ve never understood that.

I’ve always wondered about the purpose of doing this too. Maybe afraid the cops will run the plates?

Could be privacy issues. Until a few years ago in Oregon you could get the registered name and address from any license plate online. Too much personal info given up with that. Not sure if you can still do this by going to the DMV here.

I didn’t even know that. I was under the assumption that hadn’t been a thing for many years, so that’s wild to know.

Even so, I doubt the traffic on a website like auto geek is greater than the amount of cars id pass driving around locally (could be wrong, who knows.) So in that regard, I’ve always asked myself “why bother?” I’d be more concerned about that guy I drove past on 32 thinking my -insert super awesome- car looked good and writing down my license plate number so they could come steal it later.

I understand the thought process, for sure. I guess I’ve just never really cared at all. It’s like people who shred their address on random junk mail, which is something I can’t bring myself to do either.
