Jury Duty - Our civic duty
Jury Duty - Our civic duty
My name has been chosen for jury duty, I go to the Martin County Court House at 8:00am this morning to go through the selection process.
This will be my 4th time being called for jury duty. I consider it to not only be our civic duty to participate in our legal system and process but a privilege and an honor.
i know if I'm ever in a situation where I need a jury of my fellow citizens that when they are summoned that they too honor the call and participate in an honest and ethical manner.
I think I remember 250 people being summoned today, I'm #44

That's a great attitude to have Mike!

Re: Jury Duty - Our civic duty
Many US citizens who haven't lived abroad don't realize how many ways our Constitution protects us compared to other places. However, it only works when we participate when called upon.
Interesting you've been picked four times. I've lived in the same area for 10 years and only been picked once. The case I was to hear was a criminal case which ended minutes before opening arguments.

I was not picked today. I always believe everything works out for the right reasons, so back to work and I have lots of work to do.

I've spent practically all my life in West Palm Beach and have been called for jury duty 3 times so far.

Re: Jury Duty - Our civic duty
Mike, I wish you the best. I have to say, I don’t share your enthusiasm, but I do like how you look to the bright side.
With that said, I heard a news show that stated jury duty is picked from registers voters. So with one civic duty, to participate in community and government comes the call to participate in law & order.
I hope your selection is quick and you are in and out, as to not cause disruption from polishing vehicles!

Re: Jury Duty - Our civic duty
P.S. Mike, if the Judge recognizes you and in in the middle of selection starts asking questions on how best to care for his vehicle, that may be your ticket on getting out of Jury Duty!
