Headlight Upgrade - LED replacing Halogen
Anyone have recent experience replacing halogen headlights with the newest LED offerings? I'm going to replace my '15 Prius halogens with LEDs I'm getting from Amazon. Our two other vehicles have LED headlights and I'm spoiled. The fitment is H11 bulbs. Prices range from about $45/pair up to $150+ so it is not that much to give it a try. I avoided HID because of the cost, size, heat and hassle. LED seems much easier and less problematic.

The fact that Evo77 went Above and beyond to post so much information to help out the OP is impressive. Thanks for sharing.

Props to Evo77 for that information, just don't go throwing any bulbs in. Another very good distributor is TheRetrofitSource.com, Lightwerkz.com, and Opt7. Make sure your vehicle does have projector headlights because if not.... unless you have some kind of cutoff shield your going to blind many drivers.. and if you blind a cop, we will stop and cite you for it .

Re: Headlight Upgrade - LED replacing Halogen
Unfortunately TRS doesn't offer a good performing LED headlight bulb. And Lightwerkz is only a installer/retrofitter and reseller. Opt7 only rebrands Chinese bulbs. They are not good performing bulbs.
With the right LED bulb, a reflector housing can achieve a proper beam pattern with very little extra glare over the original halogen. In fact all halogen reflector headlamps give off some amount of glare. It's just kept under the maximum glare levels allowed under the FMVSS 108 standard. Which by the way the US has higher allowed glare levels than Europe and Asia.
Here is the current H13 bulb I have in my car and the comparison I did with the halogen.

Can I ask you which bulbs you purchased?

I chose these for the first pass: Amazon.com: CougarMotor LED Headlight Bulbs All-in-One Conversion Kit - H11 (H8, H9) -7,200Lm 6000K Cool White CREE - 3 Year Warranty: Automotive
I'm OK with making multiple purchases to get it right. This is 100% elective surgery so I can always revert to the stock halogen if things don't work out for whatever reason.

Re: Headlight Upgrade - LED replacing Halogen
I have an aftermarket LED bulb on my dual sport bike and I love it for off-road and speeds below 55mph at night. It is really freaking bright for lower speeds. If you're cruising down a dark road at higher speeds, it's not very good because it does not throw the light far enough.
Hey evo77, did you used to be on SRTFORUMS? That name seems very familiar.
