What did you do today non-detailing related?

After ONR’ing the Mav this morning, I spent a bit of time in front of the easel.

I hopped in the little blue car today and plugged in my iPhone

No joy

WTH

After I dropped off the boss and parked I looked at the cord, suspecting it had broken at the connector or something

Nope

The business end had obviously fallen down in the floor liners and gotten in melted snow slop, which obviously includes ice melt which contains salt which corrodes metal



That happened in 2 days

I have a strong appreciation for people who can do that sort of thing, that ability to tell interpret with your hands what your eyes can see.

I tried many times to become artistic like that, but I'm just to ridged in my thought processes. It would probably come as no surprise for me to say I was very good at graphical art though. And pretty good at pottery as well. I also loved trying different mediums, especially enjoyed using chalk or oil pastels.

Thanks. I claim no talent but it keeps me out of the pool halls. So many hobbies were closed to me after my injury and I tried this at a class at the Warrior Transition Unit at Riley.

I bought some new seat covers. I didn't go expensive, and they were 30% off as well. I had genuine Toyota FJ Cruiser covers that were neoprene, they were too grippy on my clothes, and the red stripe was always reflecting in the head unit when the sun was at a certain angle. Funny the things that annoy you.

Sharpened the hedge trimmer with my new rotary tool today, wish I invested in one of these a long time ago!



Used it on a job shortly after and was very pleased with the cut efficiency.

My work shoes weren’t holding up a good shine with traditional polish, so I coated them with TACsystem Moonlight.




I was going to buy CarPro’s leather coating, but figured it was easiest to experiment on an older pair of shoes first. I am impressed!



For maintenance, I wipe them off with a damp MF towel. For fun and giggles, I’ve tried a detail spray with similar results (maybe a little more shine).
