Have you ever felt so defeated during a detail?

Recently, I had a 2013 Ford Escape interior to detail. Prior to then, I had gone to inspect the vehicle's interior and discovered a bunch of sand in the carpet. It didn't seem bad at the time.

But hey I guess anything can happen in a matter of two weeks.

    Anyway,

Sand hasn't been an issue for me, up until this one.

I spent like over an hour and a half trying different methods to the best of my abilities.

I managed to get maybe about 70% of it out, but still...I felt defeated.

When I say the sand is SUPER EMBEDDED into that carpet, I really mean it! Unless I was able to take the carpet out and beat it to death, I don't know what else to do.

The sand is LITERALLY crusted to the bottom.

Have you ever felt so defeated in a detail before?

At what point do you call it quits and move on to the next task?

I used too but I realized I'm not a miracle worker, can't totally bring a neglected vehicle back all the time. I try my best but sometimes there's only so much one can do

Man don't beat yourself up, it is what it is. If you know you did your best then don't sweat it.

Palm sander (without paper) or a DA with carpet brush might help.

Yes, when working on soft black paint. VERY frustrating at times. Makes me want to sell everything I have and forget detailing.

The worst one was a Jeep Cherokee that I couldn't decontaminate. I also burned some plastic with the rotary, using a burgundy megs pad. This was five years ago.

The next was a Lexus with extreme water spotting. I couldn't get the spots off with anything. 3M compound on a white 3M cutting pad on my rotary wouldn't even do it. That was 10 years ago.

I think it was sizzle chest forum member who put a vibrating device on floor board to make the sand come out deep into the carpet fibers.

Nothing good comes from working on boats. I've been doing it for about 40 of my 47 years on this earth.
