Acronym frustration on this board lol

Acronyms never have a place lol. They only have their place to people that can't type, or spell. Period (laughing out loud lol). I've never had a problem typing out what I feel entirely. Honestly, even the average typist only saves a second or less by converting a word or two to acronyms. Going off of that, the only thing left they can do is confuse, costing MORE time for every reader of the post.
So only the original poster gets to save a few seconds, but now thousands of readers have to spend more time translating. I'd never do that to someone. I'm too considerate lol.
I disagree, depending on the topic of discussion acronyms are very helpful and save a lot of time and frustration . I am sure you have used common acronyms in typing or verbal communication. Imagine writing a research paper on deoxyribonucleic acid, who the heck wants to write that out a billion times, you can use thee letters instead. I would be very, very, very impressed if you have used the full verbose wording/typing of the following common acronyms in conversation ( people would probably look at you funny too if you said the real wording instead of the acronym)

    computerized axial tomography
    magnetic resonance imaging
    Human immunodeficiency virus
    acquired immune deficiency syndrome
    Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

I can say that abbreviations have saved me countless pages or extra typing, frustration and stress in my grad courses. I would go mad having to spell out and say everything in its entirety!

    TBH I <3 acronyms

I agree with the poster earlier that said the first time used it should include the full name. I would go further and say the first time used on a thread page it should have the full name with it.

It would be nice to have a standard everyone adhered to.

I think the OP should get used to acronyms PDQ (ASAP) and go get some UC and UP to get rid of his RIDS. Follow up with WGDGPS.

Oh, and a good QD can be made from ONR.

    Just messin' with you, bud.

This is what I try to do even with my own personal write ups on various projects I do.

It maks it easy to follow up and doesn't create confusion if you use the wrong one.

The journalist rule for acronyms is to write the full name first in the the text, and the acronym in between parenthesis, like Ultima Paint Guard Plus (UPGP). Since it is already stated in the beginning, you can refer to it later as an acronym.

So like OMYSFYSFYBMMHM would be proceeded by "Oh Micky you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, HEY MICKY! ??
