Re: What are you eating?
I have had BBQ in KC, Texas, NC, and Tennessee. Not gonna pick a favorite because each one was incredibly good.
I know damn well that place Smoque in Chi town rocks as well. (Or Roger wouldn't eat there......lol)
BBQ rules!
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Its called that because the owner went to school to be a doctor down in North Carolina and REALLY got into the culture, they even have Alabsma BBQ sauce there!!!

Better be a long vacation for all the stuff in KC lol. The best in most people's opinion including mine is Joe's KC but there are so many choices. Gates, Arthur Bryant's, Jack Stack are the oldies but goodies. There are some new ones like Q39 never ate there but have heard good things. Then there are the steakhouses lol

Thanks Paul, I love to eat and ESPECIALLY BBQ!
If there's anyone near Nashville, check out a place called Baily & Cato's Soulfood and BBQ. My wife and I went there while on our honeymoon, food was awesome! The outside might detour some but not me, I knew it was going to be good and it was, BIG TIME! I had catfish, white cheddar mac-n-cheese, cornbread and peach cobbler, served in a Styrofoam take home container, even though we ate there, oh yeah, homemade hot sauce for the catfish!!

Re: What are you eating?
Hell froze over according to my wife as I've been Vegan for 8 days. I'm not a "vegan" type person in any way really but I'm 48 and have yet another friend who has been struck with a Stage 4 cancer. Combined with the fact that I just detailed an MD's vehicle that has been a Cardiac Surgeon for quite some time and let's just say after a good lunch conversation with him, and sharing a few stories and life history back and forth, he sold me.
Again, I'm as big of a meat-aholic as they come but I must say a few influcing factors that pushed me to try this were:
- History of health issues within my family as they aged and I'm now 48, wife is 50 and I want another 40+ years out of my life.
- NUMEROUS friends that have been struck with Heart issues and cancer well before 55yrs of age, both men and women
- I'm 5ft 9 and have traditionally been in excellent shape physically due to decades of exercise and martial arts but I'm finding it hard to keep up
- Interest in losing 20lbs to get back to my 32's vs 34-36" waist
- The list goes on
Let's just say after just 8 days I feel completely different. Way more energy, ZERO feeling of puffy/bloated ugh feelings No dairy, no meat and little to no added sugar or oils in what I'm eating. The first few days were hard as the cravings came hard-fast but I made it through them and on day 4 they were gone like a bad storm. If it wasn't for such a rush/feeling like I have in terms of feeling good I'd probably bail out but thankfully the week has been great.
I'm looking at this like a puzzle/challenge. I have to re-learn 40+ years of making my own meals and what to eat and how to make it. My wife is 50% on-board right now but even she wants to lose 20lbs which is hard for me to even type given she still looks great but she's always been super trim. Kids.....welll, my daughter is 50% on-board too. Both are planning to really move on this after the holidays.
Sounds crazy to me on many many levels, especially given Christmas and what not but I'm off-work on my yearly 4 week December Vacation so for me it's an excellent time to do this. I seriously can't look at that lobster roll as I could eat two right now but I'm going in and coming out my lean-mean and fast karate machine at 175lbs come soon so I can't stop now. I should break below 190lbs by Monday I hope. Stay tuned!
