Thumbs up Touring the PORSCHE Museum

Last week during the holidays I went down to Stuttgart to see the Christmas Market Stuttgart puts on as well as see the PORSCHE Museum the following day. Whew, the Stuttgart Christmas Market is huge! It was never ending. Everywhere you walked/turned, more too see. Plenty of great food and trinkets to enjoy.

The next day we took off to see the Museum. There was no shortage of Mercedes and PORSCHE's driving around Stuttgart. The hometown of these two manufacturer's.

    This is the Museum.

This is a PORSCHE Dealer located right next to the Museum.

Looking out right in front of the Museum.

It wouldn't be the start of the Museum without the original Beetle. This is where PORSCHE first branched out.

The paint sure needed some love...

Great pics of some really amazing Porsches!!

One question though.....How sure are you that the GT1 you post above was actually a Street Version (Strassenversion)? From the body work it really looks to be a race car modified for street use.

    Thanks David!

In the above picture (arm and leg) that is a private tour guide giving a group of people a private tour (more than just the museum) that was spoken in english. As I walked around the group of people to get to the cars in front of it, I heard the guide telling the group that the car is indeed a Straßenversion that is fully road legal and registered with that plate. He mentioned the car could be fired up and taken out to a car meeting as well as grabbing a cappuccino.

Now that you brought it up I looked into it a bit (wikipedia) and found out that 25 had to be made in order to meet homologation purposes.

"The Porsche 911 GT1 was a car designed for competition in the GT1 class of sportscar racing, which also required a street legal version for homologation purposes. The limited-production street-legal version was labeled the 911 GT1 Straßenversion (Street version)."
