Clearcoat peeling off rims like a sunburn on 2016 Mazda
Anyone else have an issue with clearcoat peeling off their rims? I have a 4 month old Mazda 6 Grand Touring and the rims look like a sunburn.
I noticed this the day after I used Meguires HotShine tire shine. Not 100% sure what the cause was but as you could imagine Meguires says it is not due to their product.

Didn't you post this already? Take it back to the dealer for warranty. Don't tell them you sprayed anything on there. And no, the tire shine didn't do it.

I've had the same thing to my wife's Toyota. Unfortunately, it was right after the warranty expired.
Are the wheels completely painted or a combination of painted and brushed metal surface? I've had two Toyota's now and on both of the them the clear coat over the brushed metal surface has failed, while the painted area remained in tact.
I think a tiny piece of debris hits the wheel causing a pit or crack. For what ever reason, the clear does not bond to the brushed metal as well as the painted areas and this allows moisture to get under the clear in those areas and the clear starts to fail/peel away. This is simply a theory based on observation. I can't see how any wheel cleaner would cause the bubbling/peeling. Hazing/fogging, yes; peeling, no.

I have new Sonax FE now I'm afraid to use on my new Mz3 . This is my first Mazda and despite I love many things about car cosmetically it has a lot of issues, literally a lot!

Always said Mazda has no identity.Besides the look of certain models what makes a consumer purchase a Mazda between a Toyota or Honda or even the new Hyundai.mazda had some nice cars back years ago, like the millennia the 929 or the infamous rx.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by "identity"?
